Fred Hooper, Ph.D.

Picture of Dr. Hooper Dr. Hooper has a B.S. in Biology, Chemistry and Math from Stephen E. Austin University in Texas, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Nutrition from Texas A & M, and he did postdoctoral research at the Institute for Biomedical Research at the University of Texas. Dr. Hooper is a highly-published researcher and a member of the SAB since 1978. He brings to GNLD an in-depth understanding of complex nutritional processes, and he is focused on exploring how the thousands of synergistic nutrients in natural whole foods nourish, protect, and regenerate cells. He also teaches consumers how to sort through complex information to make wise decisions about their health and nutrition.

David Shepherd, Ph.D.

Picture of Dr. Shepherd Dr. Shepherd received a B.S. degree from Durham University and a Master of Science and Doctorate degrees in Microbial Biochemistry from Manchester University, U.K. He completed postdoctoral studies in Microbial Enzmology at the University of California, Davis. A world renowned biochemist and expert in phytonutrients, Dr. Shepherd has nearly 20 years experience in the field, the author of 16 publications and 12 patents. He is an authority on the history of whole foods and the global food supply. He strongly believes in the role that dietary supplementation plays in preventing diseases associated with aging. He is currently director of research at the GNLD European Technology Center in France.

Gordon W. Newell, Ph.D.

Picture of Dr. Shepherd A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Newell has a B.A. in Chemistry and and M.S. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry. He spent 28 years as Senior Biochemist at Stanford Research Institute, and he directed the development of one of the first toxicology departments in the United States. His research encompasses biochemical toxicology, food additives, industrial chemicals, drugs, and presticides. Dr. Newell has authored more than 80 papers and technical publications. He has served as member and Chair of advisory and review committees of the Society of Toxicology, American College of Toxicology, and Society for Risk Analysis. Dr. Newell has been a Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences since 1981.
